What I do

These are the things that I can do:

Plumbing. This is the main thing that I do – anything from changing a washer to changing a bathroom or kitchen. I can do:

  • Radiators
  • Sinks
  • Toilets
  • Baths
  • Showers
  • Washing Machines
  • Dishwashers
  • Unblocking drains
  • Moving pipework.

I’ve been plumbing since about the year 2002, and I am an Affiliate Member of The Chartered Institute of Heating & Plumbing Engineers (or CIPHE for short). I have an NVQ1 and an NVQ2 in Plumbing.

The only thing I don’t do is gas work. To do gas work I’d need to be on the Gas Safe Register (it used to be called CORGI, but it changed on 1st April 2009). If you need a Gas-Safe Registered bloke, then check out my page “Other trades…?” Owen Spencer is your man, and I work with him all the time.

Tiling. I’ve become pretty nifty at tiling over the years, as most of my installations require it in some way. I use high quality grout and adhesive ( BAL is my preferred brand), mixing up the powder as I go. Those ready-mix grouts and adhesives in tubs are not great – they tend to crack very quickly – often within the space of about couple of months.

I also use Marmox boards for “boxing in” and other tiling situations, and Dow Corning silicones (again, for quality these tend to be more mould resistant and harder wearing).

Other stuff. I do some light carpentry work (usually boxing in for pipes, but other things too) and put in false ceilings when required. I also do the carpentry for putting in kitchens, and can do painting and decorating when required.
